C. Connection speed used in the classroom:dial-up modem
D. Number of years our classroom has been connected to the Internet:2-3
E. Additional comments concerning your computer and/or Internet access (Optional):
The school has a campus local area network with a slow internet connection apeed as all the computers in different offices are connected with the internet by a single ADSL broadband linked with one telephone line . Meanwhile , since the configuration of the school computers are low , they have a slow and unsmooth operation .
4. Problems We Had To Overcome
1.Students did not have enough access to computers . We had a relatively tight schedule of classes , as a consequence , students did not have enough time to play computers , letting alone the internet access . Since they did not have computers in their homes , they had limited chances to get familiar with computers . They knew computer operation more through guidance from teachers by narration. 2.low computer configuration . computers in our school operated very slow because of the low configuration and single internet access to more than one computer . Sometimes , we had to wait for a long time patiently to upload a picture , therefore , we had to finish and classify paperwork and photos at schooltime and asked our leading teacher to upload words and pictures online after he went back home. 3.Difficulties during the interview . Since our leading teacher was very busy at working at the working time , he could not leave enough time taking us to interview and investigate . therefore , we had to use limited weekends time and the National holiday to conduct the interviews. 4.Expense difficulty of the interviews. We needed some funds as we had to investigate the situation of gai wan cha in restaurants and teahouses to support our theme of Ninxia gai wan cha. To make this project succeed ,we tried our best to cost less. 5 .Poor traffic . Outdoor transportation was unconvinient as the suspence of coach buses , attributed to the full-closed maintainance of 109 national highway from Pingluo to Sishi li dian since the beginning of August .
5. Our Project Sound Bite
Looking back to the interviews and designs for the last two months and experiences all the way ,we experienced what we had not got in school and learnt what we had not got in classes and felt what we had not got with teachers and parents aside. We were so exicited and hornored when knowing that our teacher chose us three to participate the Cyber Fair hosted by USA. We were amazed at the magical power of internet to register for the competition , operated teacher Gong’s digital camera privately and scrupulously , yet we still failed to use it after long time study . At last , we invited our teacher to teach us personally to use digital camera , which erased our feeling of myth finally . We truly experienced the greatness of the technology . Meanwhile , information online were so much compared to a huge library made us dizzy with eyes. Embarassment rushed to us when we were turned out by stragers as this was our first time to conduct social approaches. We lost our head when we firstly learnt to build our website and design our webpage , thanks to the guidance of our teacher ,we got the experience to manage a dynamic website. So many first times benefited us to know and feel more about the theme of the Cyber Fair , outside world , magical network and our own shortages . We deeply felt the creeds that there is a will , there is a way . and nothing is too difficult if you put your heart into it through this project . We believed that participation to this competition would …
6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?
The real goal of a quality-oriented education is to teach students to learn , to live , to cooperate , cultivate their humanistic literacy and their ability to organize and coordinate . Focused on the gai wan cha as our studying theme , we hoped to forge students’ ability of social practice , social resilience , cooperation and exploration by leading students out of the classes to enter into the society , touch the society and engage in the social practices during the process of exploring the related issues of Chines tea culture and Ninxia gai wan cha as well as the webpage design . Under the right guidance of teachers , students felt the fun in the simple subject study , exploration , realized that we shoulf protect and carry forward Ninxia gai wan cha and Ninxia ba bao cha as they were non-material cultural heritage.
