4. Problems We Had To Overcome
In the period of time, we needed to use spare time to accomplish the project—from setting up the topic, collecting data, communicating with the villagers, visiting and interviewing with farmers, to writing up contents, as well as webpage design and production. It is actually a heavy task. Besides, students and teachers had to take care of school lessons and examinations. Students must temporarily stop doing their research when they had tests. However, they did not give up or complained about the limitation of the time. On the contrary, students paid more effort to do the research during the limited time.
5. Our Project Sound Bite
Students and teachers know more about the community and the world by participating in International Schools CyberFair.
6. How did your activities and research for this CyberFair Project support standards, required coursework and curriculum standards?
In the class of social study, my students learn the topic of the culture of Taiwan. It is really an interesting topic for students because they all want to know more about their hometown. After discussing a lot of times, we decide to take part in the project of crop diversity in Tainchien. During this period of time, students have learned to get information about crops in Tanchian. Moreover, they have interviews with the villagers and farmers in order to know how they plant crops. At the end of the semaster, students have to make power points and introduce the plants to each other. The project of crop diversity in Tanchian not only is connected to the social study, but also becomes a way for students to know, and even love the place they live.
