Our school locates between the big and small Wumian Hill, close to the Linxi River, about 20 km to Pujiang County. The fast track between Chengdu and Pujiang under construction is only 1 km away from our school. When the project is completed, it will become more convenient your coming to our school.
2. Summary of Our Project
Pujiang county is situated in the southwest of the Chengdu, the key entrance to Tibet and Yunnan as the traffic hinge and goods collection and dispatch cener. Pujiang is the ecological demonstration region, has enjoyed “Chengdu park, the green Pujiang” reputation. Temples in Pujiang are built on the mountain. The temple is both as an excellent place to meditate and tour. The temple fair could advance rapid development of local economy.
3. Our Computer and Internet Access
A. Percentage of students using the Internet at home:21-50%
B. Number of workstations with Internet access in the classroom:2-3
C. Connection speed used in the classroom:dedicated connection
D. Number of years our classroom has been connected to the Internet:4-6
E. Additional comments concerning your computer and/or Internet access (Optional):
Our school uses broadband LAN. The computer classroom is busy for many classes’ lessons, so it is hardly to use it. Only on weekend we can use it. However, the internet speed is slow and not everyone can use the computers (the students who collect western story are many). We are also very happy to use the internet. Some students go to other places including teachers’ homes and school’s executive offices to write stories.
4. Problems We Had To Overcome
Firstly, it is a tight schedule. In autumn, the students get up to study morning lessons at 6:50 AM and finish the night lessons at 9 PM. Mr. Liu is not only a head teacher but also responsible for the jobs of school’s executive offices. So we can only use the time before dinner to do the works. Sometimes we go to school to finish the jobs on weekends. So all works we need to do are completed little by little. Secondly, current Gion Temple was built in 1994. The old Gion Temple was no longer in existence. We asked the aged about the temple. First we asked our family and then found the people who were most likely to know the history of it. Fortunately, we found an aged people living around the temple and gained the past story of the temple. Thirdly, collect the materials. We choose Gion Temple as our theme in this year. While our school is not far from the temple and we can interview and get the materials at ordinary times, the fairs are all in summer holiday. We can gather and visit the fairs several times in holidays.
5. Our Project Sound Bite
The temple is our country’s art treasures library and a symbol of our long history and culture. The temple is not only related with the religion but also well preserves cultural relics of various dynasties. The combination of temple and traditional palace architectures expresses distinct national styles and folk characteristics. The temple cultures have penetrated our life such as astronomy, geography, architecture, drawing, calligraphy, sculpture, music, dancing, cultural relics, fairs, and customs. The annual temple fairs are picked up steam all over the country. The cultural atmosphere around the country is enriched and local tourism is developed by fairs.
